The purpose of this research was to find out the implementation of School Based Curriculum on social subject at SMPN. 10 Pekanbaru and the factors influenced on the implementation of the curriculum. The research was the descriptive research which assisted by 7 key informmen , 4 Social subject teachers, one principle and one vice principle as well as the chairman of students’ parents associations. The techniques of collecting data used were interview, documentation and observation.
Based on data collected, the conclusions were drawn as follows : (1) The principle and vice principle had lack of knowledge in managing the implementation of school based Curriculum so that their policy and creativity were not developed well, (2) The social subject was not implemented as integrated material, (3) Teachers did not implement integrated social subjects because of some reasons, they are : (a) the background education of the teachers are not parallel with the subjects they teach, (b) They have limited knowledge lack about integrated learning, (c) the process of teaching are still conventional, (d) the lack of using instructional media, and (e) the planning which had been designed were not implemented, (4) The function of students parents association just to ratify the curriculum and they do not understand the contain of it. Consequently, there were no good school policies and initiations. (5) Instructional media available are not adequate in term of variety and advantages in teaching. However, the instructional media available are the in good condition.
